F – Fleeting

Fungi (2)

There are few things that fascinate me more

than the fragile fungi that flourish

in my soggy Floridian yard.

Their frilly edges float on the faint

and still heated late summer breeze

as the colony expends its one night.

They have no tomorrow,

they have only now,

and nearly no audience to their passing.

A lesson in the beauty of

brevity.
